Client Care & Studio Standards

At Sacred Fury, your safety, comfort, and autonomy come first. Always.  These promises guide how we work, how we treat people, and how we hold our space.

You will be respected at every stage of your time with us, from first message to final aftercare. Our pricing is clear and transparent. Deposits are fair and explained upfront, and all costs are recorded on your appointment. Any changes to your total will always be discussed with you in advance. No surprises, no awkwardness. We respect your budget. While we don’t compromise on safety or quality, we will adjust design elements where possible so you can get a tattoo that feels right for you. Where appropriate, we’ll also offer options to extend or add to your piece later.

We respect your name and pronouns. We may need your legal name for paperwork or ID, but this is the only place it’s required. Your appointment will always be booked under your chosen name, and we’ll ask for your pronouns. If we get something wrong, please correct us, we appreciate it. If your name has an unfamiliar spelling, we may ask how to pronounce it so we can address you properly and respectfully.

You’re welcome to bring comfort items with you; headphones, sunglasses, soft toys, stims, grounding tools. Wherever possible, these are allowed in procedure areas. We can’t allow recreational substances, alcohol, emotional support animals (excluding service animals), or anything that could interfere with your procedure or others’. Free snacks and drinks are available to all clients, always.

Water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and a range of pre-packed sweet and savoury snacks are stocked at our coffee station, including gluten-free, halal, vegan, and vegetarian options. There’s an optional tip box to help replenish supplies, but there is no obligation, help yourself freely. No profit is taken.

Our toilets are non-gendered and stocked with personal care items: period products, deodorant, mints, hair ties, flushable wipes. If something’s missing, just ask reception.

We also have a charging station behind the desk if you need it!

All staff working in the studio  (artists, technicians, reception, cleaners, apprentices) have completed a basic DBS check. We aim to pursue enhanced DBS checks via council sponsorship in future. Each artist holds their own public liability and treatment insurance and is registered with Middlesbrough Council for their procedures. A trained first aider is on site at all times while we’re open. Artists are carefully vetted. Anyone still developing their skills will never work with a client without that client’s full knowledge and consent, and they will always be supervised. We will never hire someone as a senior artist based solely on a short course or “tattoo school”.

While we are not therapists, we will listen if you need to talk. Anything shared stays confidential unless we are concerned for your safety or someone else’s. We keep discreet postcards at reception with contact details for local and national support services including mental health, abuse, addiction, and crisis helplines. We are registered with Cleveland Police as a Safe Space and work closely with Women’s Street Watch. If you feel distressed, overwhelmed, or unsafe, you are welcome here. We can help you make travel arrangements, wait with you, or provide a quiet place, a snack, and a drink until you’re ready. If you need to leave discreetly, a staff member can escort you via our rear exit and wait with you until transport arrives. We use a registered “safe” taxi service and can request a female driver if preferred.

Our staff receive guidance and training where possible to be autism-aware, trauma-informed, trans-inclusive, and supportive of people with mobility aids, medical devices, or communication barriers. We’ve worked with external support to produce an access statement outlining how we can assist clients who need additional support, this is available in the studio upon request!

We cannot offer childcare. However, children may wait in the reception area with another adult (18+) while you undergo your appointment. Children must remain seated, quiet, supervised at all times, and cannot enter procedure areas.

We are transparent. If a policy exists, we will explain why. If something changes, we will tell you why. You deserve clarity. We are honest. If a procedure isn’t safe, suitable, or possible, we will tell you and explain your options. You are always welcome to seek a second opinion. If we can’t provide a service, we’ll help you find someone who can.

And finally: We will never use AI to produce finished tattoo designs, social media posts or captions. Your art, and our words, are made by people.
