Kim Hutchinson

I’ve been in this industry since 2002, working across studios in the North East, so it’s been over 20 years now. I’ve had the privilege of being a board member for a UK piercing association, organising the UK’s first regular body piercing conference, and travelling internationally to educate at seminars and conferences which still feels a bit surreal for a lass from East Durham.

Sacred Fury was co-founded because I wanted to do things properly. Not just beautifully but ethically, safely, and with real care behind it. I wanted to create a genuinely safe space and go back to that more traditional studio feel where the focus is on clients, compassion and community - not just profits and protocol.

For me, piercing isn’t just about jewellery. It’s about trust. It’s about giving someone space to feel comfortable in their own skin, sometimes for the very first time. No ego, no intimidation. Just good work, done properly.

My favourite piercings to do? Daiths. Every time. And I love curating jewellery sets for ears (tailoring everything so it feels like you, rather than a 'cookie cutter' method of styling).

I grew up in East Durham as a farmer’s daughter, which gave me a deep love for animals and the planet. I follow a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, and at home my husband and I basically run a small zoo: snakes, spiders, tortoise, lizard, fish and a tiny Yorkshire terrier.

I love reading and travelling (this job’s taken me all over), I’m a bit of a technophobe, and I firmly believe in marching to the beat of your own drum.

If you’re in my chair, you’re looked after. Simple as that.
